Operations for the year 2006 in the Finnish Virtual Polytechnic

The challenges of 2006 are tightening the collaboration between polytechnics and promoting flexible studying. Another important issue is developing services and training utilizing information and communications technologies for both the students and the staff of the polytechnics. Especially important is ensuring a wide-reaching and extensive range of courses in the portal’s supply. The collaboration between polytechnics is vital in order to reach these goals. Another central theme is quality assurance. International cooperation will be tightened. A large ESR 3 –project will be finished by the end of 2006 and the learning objects will be available for all members of the network.

In 2006 the objectives the Finnish Virtual Polytechnic will focus on:

• ensuring a wide-ranging and extensive supply of courses to be offered through the portal (the aim is to tenfold the number compared to 2005)
  
• further development of the portal and its services
• planning new projects for years 2007-2009
• building a collaboration between the polytechnic libraries and the Finnish Virtual Polytechnic
• quality assurance in the educational products and the services of the Finnish Virtual Polytechnic
• research and development of online pedagogy
• educational production in the production rings.
