Studying at the Finnish Online University of Applied Sciences

The Finnish Online University of Applied Sciences does not arrange studies itself, because it is a virtual institution. It only collects the studies suitable for online or blended learning in one place. The real power behind us are the 27 Finnish universities of applied sciences which offer their online courses and services on the oncampus.fi portal.

The courses on the portal can in most cases be included into a degree of Finnish university of applied sciences. The courses offered resemble in some respects the ones studied in a classroom. The courses are evaluated, tutored and guided. They may also include exercises and exams. They are graded by the arranging university of applied sciences. As a rule all of this happens online. For these reasons the Finnish Online University of Applied Sciences is a real virtual educational institution.

How to apply for a course at the Finnish Online University of Applied Sciences

  • Enter the Study Services section. Search for the courses to find one that interests you.
  • If you are a degree student in some university of applied sciences, first consider carefully how to utilize the course from another university of applied sciences in your individual study plan.
  • Talk to your study advisor or the person in charge of your degree programme at your home university of applied sciences about including a course from another university into your study plan. If you choose courses that fit your study plan, your student advisor will be likely to support your idea. If your home university of applied sciences supports you, it will also pay for your studies taken through the Finnish Online University of Applied Sciences at another university of applied sciences.
  • Register into the portal as a student of your own university using the electronic registration form (unless you have already done this before). Please note that registration is needed only once.
  • Log into the service.
  • Enter the Study Services section and send an electronic application for the course you are interested in.
  • Your application will be handled within two weeks from the end of the application period.
  • You can follow up your application handling process in the Study Services section when you have logged into the portal.
  • After your electronic application has been handled, you will receive an email notice informing you about the decision.

How to apply for a course at the Open University of Applied Sciences

Those who are not degree students in a UAS can still apply for the Open UAS courses via the The eStudy Services of the Open UAS portal. Open UAS studies are chargeable mainly for all students.
